Web28 de jan. de 2014 · Hiroo Onoda was a wartime Japanese officer who surrendered only in 1974, having hunkered down in the jungles of the Philippines for nearly three decades in defiant honour of the Imperial Army. His exile in northern Lubang Island, 150 kilometres south-west of Manila, was a rebellious response to the American invasion in February 1945. WebAfter reading about a Japanese teenager who had murdered his parents in 1980, Onoda returned to Japan in 1984 and established the Onoda Shizen Juku ("Onoda Nature School") educational camp for young people, held at various locations in Japan. Onoda revisited Lubang Island in 1996, donating US$10,000 for the local school on Lubang.
