WebDPW is a native species of Turpan (Xinjiang Province, China) that carries several valuable genes for agricultural purposes (e.g., the elongated and plump kernel gene KL-PW and the dwarfing gene Rht-B1b [5], [6]) and exhibits a high Cd tolerance [11], [79]. Thus, it is an ideal wheat species to investigate Cd uptake and accumulation mechanisms.
